NAIDOC Week 2023: Indigenous business; Physiotherapy Innovations is proud to celebrate and participate in NAIDOC Week 2023

NAIDOC Week is here, a time of profound respect and celebration of First Nation’s culture! Here at Physiotherapy Innovations, we proudly acknowledge and pay tribute to the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The theme of this year is “For Our Elders”, and we are excited to share some of the activities we are participating in to show our gratitude and respect.

Not only during NAIDOC week but throughout our daily operations, our team is exposed to our amazing First Nations culture and how that strength can shape Indigenous health and wellbeing. By nurturing a culture of respect within the business, we ensure that our care upholds and honours the traditions, beliefs, and values of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Staff report that they value being exposed to this way of being, finding it a positive and inclusive workplace, and can put into practice things they have learned during their education and really embrace First Nations’ culture.

NAIDOC Week is an opportune time for people to celebrate First Nations’ culture, which can build strong partnerships based on respect and mutual understanding. We are proud to also play in the space of celebration and collaboration to tailor our products and services to meet community needs. In 2016 we released a special edition Therabubble with Indigenous artwork to donate nationwide. This led to communities requesting more of these units as the people were really engaged with their respiratory therapy when seeing the artwork. Further to this, we then engaged First Nations artists to commission work for the Therabubble units.

During this week, Clothing the Gaps is hosting a virtual event to promote health and wellness via physical activity. The staff at Physiotherapy Innovations are excited to participate in this event. Be sure to look for our team updates on socials. Together we will run, walk and ride a total distance of 400 km and hope to have some of our friends, families and fur babies join us. If you see us out and about, in the spirit of connecting, please join us for some exercise and a yarn and together, we can keep spreading the good word.

While you immerse yourselves in the vibrant festivities of NAIDOC Week, let us celebrate with unwavering respect and acknowledgement. Through our commitment to cultural sensitivity, collaboration with Indigenous communities, promotion of Indigenous health and wellness, and support for Indigenous health initiatives, we strive to construct a future where healthcare is inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive and meets the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Be sure to stay in touch with Physiotherapy Innovations and our family of Therabubble users, and together continue to honour and respect the rich heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with a shared commitment to improving Indigenous health and wellbeing outcomes.
